About the Book

     It’s a multidisciplinary book on breastfeeding published on the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week which is observed on 1st week of August.  The book has contributors from various fields: public health professionals, paediatricians, obstetricians and gynaecologists, specialist nurses, nutritionists, sleep coaches and lactation professionals to put across various perspectives and knowledge and experiences from various fields.

                The book aims to fill the lacuna made by the existing socio-cultural beliefs of the community as well as lack of knowledge of the healthcare professionals regarding various aspects of breastfeeding. This book is probably the first book in India which is dedicated to only breastfeeding and is completely evidence-based (based on scientific facts and researches).

                It will not only act as a reference for undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing students, lactation professionals, doctors and nurses but since written in easy language, it may act as a guide to mothers who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It can be a useful gift for them! It will help clear many doubts and myths related to breastfeeding that exist in the society, and can be relied upon without a second thought as experts most of whom have been also mothers have written about them.
