About the Book

THIS volume embodies the results of several years' work on the Megarhinine and Culicine mosquitoes of India which the writer has been able to carry out whilst employed under the Indian Research Fund Association. The Author wishes to express his sincere thanks to Colonel Sir Rickard Christophers, Kt., C.I.E., O.B.E., F.R.S. (I.M.S., retired), for initiating an inquiry into this subject, and for much help and encourage- ment over a period of many years. The Author is also greatly indebted to Dr. F. W. Edwards, of the British Museum (Natural History), for kind assistance in many ways, especially in editing the manuscript of this work, arranging for a number of the illustrations, and in lending his MSS. of the Genera Insectorum, Family Culicidae,' before publication.
